Ledger Makes Some Big Announcements at Ledger Op3n

With current market ripples emphasizing the need for increased decentralization, many waited in anticipation for Ledger’s Op3n 2022 event in Paris. The event saw big announcements including Stax, a new cold wallet from the investor of the iPod. Trusted as some of the most secure and premium digital asset storage devices, the Stax adds to the already reputable line of Nano and Nano X wallets, with an improved display. The Stax is slated to be released in early 2023.

Additionally, they announced the release of Ledger Connect, a bluetooth web extension designed to be used with their line of hardware cold wallets. Connect will save users gas costs on transferring digital items between wallets, making trading and buying from your cold wallet more convenient. The event had a big focus on NFT implementation, with the final panel discussing exciting new case uses for NFT, especially among fashion and luxury brands.

Sorare Sees Huge Growth Following World Cup Promotion

Sorare is proving that fantasy football belongs on the blockchain. Fantasy sports involves users picking customized collections of players to try and earn points through the real-world statistics of said players. Sorare is a leading fantasy sports platform, seeing unprecedented growth in the space with the recent World Cup. Buoyed by their free-to-play World Cup game, the platform saw 585k new sign-ups on the platform during the World Cup run, with over 37k private leagues formed. The top 3 drafted players during the promotion were; Messi (5.47%), Mbappé (4.15%) and De Bruyne (2.93%).

In a fascinating intersection of biology, nature and blockchain, the Aquarium de Paris is releasing a special Jellyfish themed NFT collection with 1,234 NFT. Each NFT is a 1 to 1 replication of an actual Jellyfish swimming in the Aquarium, which holds the largest collection of Jellyfish outside of Japan. Each NFT will have a variety of pertinent information including; danger index, habitat location, morphologies, Latin name, and more! The NFT have all been audited and verified by a team of Marine biologists to ensure their scientific accuracy. Holding a Jellyfish NFT will give holders special privileges including souvenir store discounts, invites to VIP events and meetups, as well as unlimited and free entry to the Aquarium.
