Mutant Ape NFT Holders Looks to Scam the Community
Members of the Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFT community put out a warning this week of an on-going scam involving a “fake link” trick. The scammer looked to fool NFT holders into giving the scammer access to their wallet, legitimized by their use of the Twitter hexagon profile picture.
Having a hexagonal Twitter profile signifies you’re an NFT investor, as the only way to get a hexagonal avatar is by connecting your secure crypto wallet to your Twitter account. The community was on high alert after multiple incidents involving the account, which not only used a Mutant Ape NFT hexagonal avatar, but is also being followed by prominent Bored Ape YC members.
Limit Break NFT Gaming Buys Super Bowl Ad Spot
The Super Bowl isn’t just the pinnacle of American Football, but also of global advertising, with ad slots selling in the millions annually as many top companies look to one of the largest live sporting events to promote their brand. Limit Break, a blockchain gaming company headed by Gabe Leydon has recently purchased a 30-second time slot for the upcoming Super Bowl 57, at the cost of $6.5 million.
The ad slot will be used to promote their new NFT game, DigiDaigaku. It’s not the first time Leydon has used Super Bowl ad space, running ads for Mobile Strike and Game of War: Fire Age in previous years, with this being the first time they have used the ad space for blockchain gaming. Nothing is known yet of the ad campaign but Leydon remained optimistic of the opportunity stating on Twitter that, “I can confidently tell you a SuperBowl ad is the most effective video ad you can buy in the world.”
RTFKT’s New NFT Project Causes a Stir!
RTFKT remains one of the most successful NFT studios to date. The project, which uses new web3 technologies such as AR to create 3D digital collectibles, was acquired by Nike in December of 2021, becoming virally hot after its debut collection of digital sneakers during the same year. Recently they teased their new upcoming collection, titled “Animus”.
Not much is known about the new collection (set to drop in 2023), but many think the inclusion of the character Koda (a popular NFT avatar from Yuga Labs’ Otherside) in the promotional material could point to a possible collaboration, airdrop, or even game launch. Even without much clarification beyond the Animus teaser video, RTFKT’s NFT floor price jumped immediately, with their Clone X collection by Takashi Murakami’s floor price jumping by over 50% after the trailer dropped.
